Imagine things. Assemble them. Seek them out and help
them to become. Draw, paint, play, sculpt and sing them.
Wrestle and wrangle them into place.
Find them. Collect them. Let them go and give them away.
In doing so, you'll wake yourself into the sea of those you will never meet, and a world you may shape without ever knowing.
TRILIUM, 2014 (above)
I found these ovoid steel disks in a rotted-out silo in Nebraska. I saw the silo from the freeway, a group of vultures rimming its collar. I ran through the stubble of the spring crop, and peered inside, noticing the disks laying there. I took a photograph and left, made it maybe twelve miles down the road and just couldn't let it go : I wanted these things. A few weeks and thousands of miles later I rummaged the scrap pile of my aunt and uncles homestead in Maine. I've made dozens of these sculptures. Some you have to fight all the way. This one came together effortlessly.
